2 wheels and a seat, motorcycle?

June 14th, 2006

segseat3.jpg

Segway has taken that extra step to make it easier to get around on a Segway - they’ve introduced a seat! It’s apparently actually intended for handicapped folk, however the SegSeat is still amusing. Not quite motorcycle related, but the 2 wheels and a seat none the less.

Kawasaki ER6n review

June 13th, 2006

Kawasaki_ER6n.jpgJesper over at Helmethairblog has posted a medicore (not in writing, but in rating) review of the Kawasaki ER6n. It’s brief, but gives you an idea what you’re getting into if you happen to be looking for an uncomfortable and slow bike to ride.

The bit about the narrow handlebars scares me, have a read here:

BMW to enter MotoGP this year?

June 13th, 2006

BMW LogoWord on the street is that a BMW bike has been seen being piloted in Spain with a FIM spec transponder unit attached to the back. Is BMW ready? Time will tell. We’ll all be expecting BMW to shell out some large coin for the 2007 season to get a greater rider for their team. There are apparently pictures lurking about and I’ll try and get those up as soon as possible.

2007 Yamaha R1

June 13th, 2006

yamaha2007r1Some ideas on what’s been registered as patents seems to be the common way to deduce what manufactuers are coming out with. This is a mock-up of what may be what we get in Yamaha’s 2007 line-up. They even speak of the FJR1300’s ‘auto-clutch’ and possible perfect red matching when downshifting under breaking. Sounds exciting, and perhaps a bit safer for some, but too confidence inspiring for others. The FJR1300’s auto-clutch is on a bike that isn’t near the caliber, and the verdict is still out on just how great it is.

The styling ques, if followed, look to bring that of yester-years R1 within the lights. As concept drawings and renders go, this one looks like something Yamaha would actually put out - it will be interesting to compare it once officially announced.

MotoGP in New Zealand

June 12th, 2006

MotoGP in New Zealand? I have to tell you, being Canadian, I’m a bit dissapointed that we don’t have a decent track in Canada - considering all the space we have, and the rather large population and denisty in some of the core cities. I mean, Australia has one and it’s not too far from NZ

The Taupo track will be getting updates for a MotoGP visit next year.

Onboard in the AMA Superbike Series

June 11th, 2006

This video really shows you what it’s like to be slow in the AMA. Perhaps we’ve been spoiled with so many Rossi onboard videos that this just really has no way comparing. It does however provide excellent insight into the starting of a race, and what happens when you crash - and has a few close calls when it comes to other riders and this paticular rider (AMA David Glenn #272) choosing lines that are pretty conservative for such a competitive series. This is from the Superbike Series, California Speedway - Fontana, CA - 600 Supersport race.

June 9th, 2006

While the first few minutes are rather boring and it’s near impossible to make anything out, it’s pretty cool to see the Italian press event just the same. A follow up to this post.
